Sun Run Weekend 2012 - July 14th And 15th

The Sun Run is back for another year, and it's even bigger and better!

We had a great turnout last year (37 participants), but we're going to have an even better Sun Run this year!

Now a two day nudist event!

The number of campers joining us Saturday night before the Run has grown the past few years. We believe we have reached a "critical mass" to start having activities on Saturday night before the Run.

So, NEW for this year, we are expanding the Sun Run into a two-day event - Sun Run Weekend! We have reserved a large, open field so there will be plenty of room to have a game of frisbee, horseshoes, badminton, or spread out a blanket and lie in the sun! We will bring a charcoal grill to cook up something for a group dinner on Saturday evening. The menu is yet to be determined, but whatever it is, it will be delicious!

You can also bring a book to read, enjoy skinny dipping in the lake for as long as you want, go on a blackberry hunt, sit around camp and socialize with other nudists, wander the open fields and relish being nude in the great outdoors, bring a guitar to play by the campfire, or bring your telescope and take advantge of the crystal clear country sky! The Milky Way is AMAZING!

Not into camping, but want to enjoy two days of nudist fun?

If you're not into the whole camping thing, the host facility has cabins for rent! But book early because they fill up fast!

Register with us for the site location, and we'll provide contact information for the host facilty so you can reserve a cabin from them! You can enjoy Saturday afternoon and night with us socializing, skinny dipping, grilling out, playing frisbee, roasting marshmallows over the fire, and skygazing. Then, just walk to your cabin for a good night's rest before joining us again on Sunday morning for the Sun Run, the pot luck lunch, socializing, and even more skinny dipping all day! How could it get any better?

If the cabins are booked, there are several hotels and motels within 30 to 45 minutes from the Sun Run location in Leavenworth, Lawrence, Tonganoxie, or near the Kansas Speedway.

If we get a good turnout of people on Saturday this year, we will expand the types and number of organized activities next year even more!

Wait! I'm a newbie! What is the Sun Run?

The Sun Run is a nude outdoor 5k run/walk to celebrate wholesome family nudism/naturism, enjoy the freedom of being clothesfree outside, and socialize with other nudists/naturists. Sun Run 2012 is the 11th annual signature event of the Heartland Naturists of Kansas city. In years past, the event has drawn participants from all over the Heartland, Midwest, and even other areas of the country.

Although the event has grown to include the whole weekend, the Sun Run itself will be on Sunday, July 15. Sign-in for the Run begins at 9:00AM. This is where you will pay the Sun Run Weekend fee, turn in your signed liability waiver, get information about the route that you'll be running/walking, be alerted to any hazards, and get other general information about the event. The run/walk begins at 10:00AM. After everyone finishes and cools down, we'll have a pot-luck lunch and socialize. Afterward, everyone is welcome to go down to the lake for skinny dipping.

Based on feedback from last year's run, we will be keeping track of times for people who wish to have them. There will also be prizes given to the first and second place men and women. Those prizes are yet to be determined, but suggestions are welcome.

Like last year, we will have a few Sun Run 2012 t-shirts on-hand for purchase. However, if you know that you will want to purchase one, please send us an e-mail at SunRun2012@HeartlandNaturists.com and let us know that you want one, as well as the size, and we will reserve one for you. If we don't have enough at the Run, we can order them after the fact and ship them to you, but there will be additional shipping charges applied. The t-shirt design will be posted online as soon as it is approved so you can review it before you decide if you want one.

There will be a pot-luck lunch after the run/walk. If you plan to eat, please consider bringing something to share. Please see the Pot-luck sign-up page for things you can bring to share.

The exact location of the Sun Run is withheld until after registration for privacy and security, but it will be held about 30 minutes west of Leavenworth, Kansas.

We require registration for security purposes and you will also have to show your photo ID when you register at the hosting facility. We also use the registrations to plan for water and supplies. If it is possible that you may attend, please register as early as possible so we can plan accordingly. It is much easier to have more supplies and not need them than to have too few.

See the table below for Sun Run weekend registration fees. Please note that the fee covers any Heartland Naturists activities on Saturday and Sunday. Please pay your weekend Heartland fee at the Sun Run sign-in on Sunday morning. Donations to show your appreciation for our hosting the event will be accepted then as well. Pay fees and make donations in cash only, please.

**Please note that the hosting facility charges a $5 per day grounds fee. Campers pay an additional $10 camping fee plus an additional $5 grounds fee for the second day. So, if you are camping, total grounds fees will be $20 per person for the weekend. Note that the grounds fees are paid to the facility when you check in.
