A Letter From Our Officers
Thank you for taking the time to view our website and learn a little more about our organization.
Members of the Heartland Naturists agree to uphold the principles of the Naturist Society, ClothesFree International, Inc. and those of the American Association for Nude Recreation, along with our own standards and naturist etiquette.
The naturist philosophy is simple: being nude is natural. Naturists believe that clothing restricts the enjoyment of many activities, yet we are not opposed to wearing clothes. There are many valid reasons for naturists to wear clothes, such as weather, safety while working, health, etc. Naturists do not, as some people believe, always check the clothing at the gate. To put it simply, the naturist belief when it comes to clothes is "clothed when practical, unclothed when possible."
Let us start by telling you a little about our organization.
The Heartland Naturists organization has a rich history going back to February 1982 when 30 area naturists, mainly from the Topeka and Lawrence area gathered at the home of Webb Garlinghouse to form KNS or Kansans for A Natural Society. KNS was formed by a group of friends who liked to skinny-dip at Boy Scout Lake, a former clothes free swimming area near Lawrence. After Boy Scout Lake was closed to the public, KNS was formed with the dual objective of keeping this group of friends together and looking for a new place to sun and swim. In 1997, KNS adopted a new name in order to better reflect the broadened nature of it’s membership’s geographical distribution, hence the current name: The Heartland Naturists
The majority of our members live in Kansas City and the surrounding Kansas City metro area communities, though we have some members from as far away as western Kansas and central Illinois as well. Members are of all ages and backgrounds and are welcomed without discrimination. You will find families with children playing alongside many singles, couples both young and old, and grandparents at our events.
As a naturist organization we do require nudity, though exceptions to this rule are permitted on a case by case basis for women and children. It is our hope that you will be ready to enjoy the freedom of naturism, and that you will feel safe among some of the friendliest people you will ever meet.
Naturism is a way of life in harmony with nature, characterized by the practice of communal nudity, with the intention of encouraging respect for oneself, respect for others, and respect for the environment.
The Heartland Naturist organization is a non-landed organization, which simply means that our organization does not own the facilities that our events are held at. Members and guests meet once or twice a month for nude events, activities, or social gatherings be it in our member’s homes or in a facility that we rent for the evening. On occasion the Heartland Naturist will travel to other nearby resorts and clubs such as Lake Edun or Show Me Acres. The Heartland Naturist organization is open to all individuals regardless of their race, creed, age, handicap, religion, marital status or sexual preferences. All we ask of our visitors and prospective members is that they be reasonably normal people who attitudes and actions are in harmony with naturist’s values and ideals. As a naturist organization we believe in the concept of body acceptance, and therefore we reject the exploitation of the human body for commercial or sexual purposes. As naturist we hope to foster the belief that the human body is natural. Unfortunately, many people are misinformed and incorrectly assume that naturism has to do with sex.
Our organization is NOT (and will not be) a sex club, a dating service, a singles club, or a swingers club, so if this is what you are looking for please go elsewhere.
Naturists are ordinary people, who observe normal ethics and laws, the only difference is that naturists prefer to be nude when and where it is appropriate. The Heartland Naturists organization is a family oriented, membership organization. The environment that we wish to encourage at our events is one of safety, comfort, respect, and acceptance where all present (men, women, and children) can relax in a non-threatening environment and participate with fear of inappropriate or unwanted behaviors.
Some of the activities that we enjoy are monthly swims at an indoor heated pool, visiting other area resorts, our annual Christmas party and Revenge Gift Exchange, as well as meeting in our member’s homes for house parties. Activities that our organization’s membership has enjoyed in the past and hopefully will again in the future are nude bowling and roller skating, special nude presentations of local plays, and themed parties at our member’s homes such as a Valentines formal dinner, and a Halloween Party, where our members manage to undress in costume.
If you are interested in joining our organization, but would first like more information or you are interested in attending one of our events as a guest, please contact the Heartland Naturists at Info@HeartlandNaturists.com. Please include the following information when contacting us:
- The FULL NAME (First and Last) of each person interested in joining or attending one of our events
- City and State where each person resides
- A line or two about your interest in social nudism - basically what's your interest and background in nudism/naturism. (ie. TNS, AANR membership, past resorts or clubs you may have visited, etc)
It's a small bit of getting-to-know you information that we ask of all newcomers to our organization and guests to our event. If the requested information is not included you will receive a reply back asking for it to be included before receiving any information. Once we receive your information, you will receive a reply from a Heartland Naturist officer generally within 2 or 3 days after we receive it.
We are always glad to help others to discover the exhilaration and freedom that can be found when one loosens the restraints of society and clothing and breaks free from the shackles of body shame.
We appreciate your interest in our organization and we look forward to meeting you. If you have any questions please contact us at the previously mentioned email address.
Sincerely,
The Heartland Naturist Officers
